A heritage of hospitality, recreation, and outdoor fun
The Cedar Lake journey began in 1966, when local land featuring an island on the Conewago Creek was purchased and transformed into Flo-De-On—one of York County's first campgrounds. Despite major flooding challenges in 1972 and 1975, the campground thrived and inspired further development. Soon after, a second campground on Pine Hill Road opened among towering pine trees, offering peaceful woodland camping.
These early sites sparked the idea that would later become Cedar Lake: create a welcoming place where families could relax and enjoy the outdoors.
By the early 1980s, a larger, more stable property was needed—one that could handle future growth and provide a central gathering space. A 100-acre parcel of farmland became the canvas for a brand-new campground.
Over three years, roads were carved, buildings were constructed, and—most impressively—a lake was dug out by hand with determination and teamwork. Surrounded by cedar trees and designed with recreation in mind, the property was named Cedar Lake Campground.
A second smaller lake supported drainage and environmental stability, completing the campground's natural centerpiece. Cedar Lake opened to the public in the mid-1980s and quickly became a local favorite.
Throughout the early 2000s, Cedar Lake added amenities and expanded its offerings. The store, snack bar, gift shop, recreational areas, and popular themed events helped shape Cedar Lake into a place where families returned year after year. Its reputation for friendly service, weekend activities, and a home-away-from-home atmosphere grew steadily.
In 2014, Cedar Lake Campground was purchased by Travel Resorts of America (TRA), beginning a new era of growth and modernization. TRA invested in upgrades, improved operations, and expanded opportunities for seasonal and four-season camping.
Yet even with these changes, Cedar Lake never lost its signature feel. The managers and staff—affectionately known today as the Trailblazyr Tribe—work with passion to keep the warm, family-oriented vibe alive. They bring creativity, dedication, and heart to every event, every themed weekend, and every guest interaction.
Under TRA, Cedar Lake has embraced new attractions and improvements, including:
