4th of July: Flags, Friends and Fireworks

There is not a better way to celebrate a 4th of July than by camping with your friends and family. Because so many people chose Cedar Lake as their destination of choice, we had a weekend packed full of activities. Friday night, we lit up the sky by hosting our own personal firework show. We had a lot of compliments saying that they “just keep getting better year to year”. We hope we can keep that going and make them even better next year! With the temperature around 103 degrees (and that is not the heat index), the pool was a popular location for our campers. To guarentee that they are nice and cool, we broke out the blender and made mudslides, daquiris and pina coladas (virgin, of course) for the swimmers.

The campers took a break from the pool occasionally to enjoy activites such as bingo, kid’s crafts and the golf cart parade. All of the golf carts were covered in red white and blue. Uncle Sam even made an appearance to pass out patriotic leis! We paraded through the campground and neighborhood with flags waving. To check out some of the golf carts, visit the campground facebook page!

We were able to raise money for Make-a-Wish this weekend as well. The Cedar Lake hunks made an appearance to sign autographs! All of their adoring fans brought their calendars to be signed for only a dollar per autograph. We also had the honor of having Dan McMaster, a friend of the campground, offering to hold a tool sale during the signing. Total, we raised around 400 dollars for Make-a-Wish!

After a long hot day and some rain, the campers relaxed and danced to one of our favorite bands, Borderline. They played a great show, as usual, making it a great way to settle down after a busy Saturday.

Now, the majority of the campers have left and we are back to our normal routine. We want to thank all of the campers for choosing Cedar Lake as the place to celebrate their 4th of July weekend. And from all of us here at Cedar Lake, Happy 4th of July!

Kid’s Fishing Derby

Mother Nature must have known that we were having our Kid’s Fishing Derby this weekend because she blessed us with beautiful weather. Kids from age 3 to 15 came out, fishing poles in hand, to the big and small lake to compete in our annual Kid’s Fishing Derby. We separated the children into two separate age groups, 3-8 and 9-15. At ten o’clock, we officially began fishing and everyone cast their lines. Within seconds, our first fish was caught. After 2 hours of fishing, we caught a total of approximately 150 fish, a rock, a couple sticks and several turtles! At the end of the day, every child received a gift and we awarded six winners total for the largest fish, the most fish caught and the most unique under each age group. We have to attribute all of our success to our amazing volunteers and the wonderful monetary and toy donations that poured in.

Thank you again to all of our volunteers and donators!

June 15th, 16th and 17th

The weekend of June 15th, 16th and 17th was another full one here at Cedar Lake! With school officially out and campers itching to drive to their favorite campground, we had a park full of campers and tents. This weekend also marked our first Cedar Lake Spirit Weekend! Tons of campers came to the office sporting their Cedar Lake shirts, hats, sweatshirts and jackets to have a chance at the grand prize at the end of every night! We had several lucky winners who received even more Cedar Lake goodies! Bingo-4-Bucks with Jaron was packed full of seasonal and weekend campers ready to win some money.

We also celebrated the wedding of John Stough of Lot 66 and Jenn Simmering, an employee in the office, here at the campground. Congratulations John and Jenn! We wish you the best of luck!

Next weekend is the Kid’s Fishing Derby! All children under the age of 15 are welcome to attend. Please call the office to preregister your children!

Hot Rod Weekend- A Blast from the Past

We had some special visitors at Cedar Lake this weekend! The York Hot Rod show was getting underway and some of the attendees chose Cedar Lake as their home for the weekend! We had a park full of an array of different hot rods and enjoyed seeing the owners for another year. We had many hot rodders reserve a site for next year but we have plenty of sites open if any other hot rodders are interested.

Our food shack employees braved the rain and wind and made some delicious food on Friday night for all of our campers to enjoy! Saturday night, we had a showing of the movie Red Tails. A couple of our campers braved the chilly summer night to watch this war movie.

Finally, we want to congratulate Whitney Herman and Kelby Miller on getting married Saturday afternoon! Whitney is a relative of the owners and several of the employees.

We hope to see everyone this weekend!

Memorial Day Weekend

With every site in the park reserved, we had a busy weekend here at Cedar Lake. With all the activities that we jammed into this holdiay weekend, there was no way you could be bored. Returning campers and new campers alike brought out their tents and campers to sit back, relax and enjoy Cedar Lake! Friday, we kicked off the festivities by opening the pool! With a day as hot as it was, the pool was a popular attraction for everyone to enjoy. The campers enjoyed munching on popcorn and watching The Smurfs that night under the stars. Saturday, the ball really got rolling. In the morning, campers sat back and enjoyed a memorial service to remind us of what Memorial Day is really about. Family Fun Day, later that day, was a huge hit with both children and adults. The children delighted in the pony rides, a duck pond, free popcorn, etc. while the adults practiced their throwing while trying to dunk their fellow campers and campground employees in the dunk tank. That night, after a long day of activities, Kenny and Anna of Surf and Sand sang our favorite songs while we danced and socialized. Sunday morning some campers started their day off by attending our weekly church service. Others could be found at the pool, fishing or attending some of the children’s activities that were being hosted. The ladies had their fun on Sunday when we dressed up just a couple of our campground “hunks” to make our first CLC Hunk Calendar. The campers dressed up in outfits from an Indian to the ultimate camper to benefit Make-a-Wish. All calendars must be preordered by June 1st!

After a long and busy weekend, we are now catching up on sleep and reminiscing about the highlights of our weekend! We want to thank all of our campers for choosing Cedar Lake as their Memorial Day destination! We hope that everyone had a fun time and will be coming back another weekend! Happy Memorial Day, everyone!

Lucky them, this was the first year that it didn’t pour down rain! We always enjoy having them in and we hope that they come back again next year. This weekend was also our Spring Basket Bingo. Sponsored by Cedar Lake Campground Church, it is always a huge success. We were happy to see everyone enjoy themselves and win some baskets and gift cards. It was a beautiful weekend to be at the campground whether you were in your trailer or in your tents.

On Saturday, we have a pampered chef party, kid’s craft, family fun day, bingo, and Surf and Sand dance. There is no excuse to be bored this weekend! Mother’s Day Weekend

Hey Camping Friends!

Happy Mother’s Day! This weekend was quite a blast at Cedar Lake! We had a lot of fun activities and events for everyone. During our kid’s craft sessions this week we put an extra amount of love into beautiful vases for Mom! Dad and grandfathers alike helped their children and grandchildren make personalized floral arrangements so that Mom would know how much she is loved! Great job kiddos, they looked amazing!

I celebrated my graduation on Saturday, May 12th and want to share my thanks!

“To all my friends, family, and supporters I would like to send you my dearest “Thank You”. The past four years I have studied at York College to receive a Bachelor Degree in Science for Hospitality Marketing. I’ve been part of several on campus student organizations, leadership teams, and have received recognition for many achievements. All of this would not have been possible without the continued support of all of you. You’ve all provided guidance, lesson, and the drive necessary to be who I am today. I have received many cards, gifts, and monetary items from so many of you and I extend an additional thank you for your generosity. I would also like to thank my parents who have made the dream of college possible for me. You are my inspiration and I love you both.”

See ya all next weekend! It’s time for Basket Bingo! Call to get your tickets today for our May 19th event!
